People are talking about the upcoming season of AMC's The Walking Dead and I'm SUPER excited to see season 9. It returns this October. Here's what we know for sure: There will be time jumps, a relocation to Washington D.C. and most regrettably Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) will be exiting the show.
Fans of the show are already drawing conclusions from the poster and trailer. Many critics are already performing a post mortem on the series, saying that this is the beginning of the end. Admittedly, I'm also eager to see how this zombie apocalypse will play out. That's the problem with a show like this - how will it end? Is there hope for humanity? Will there be a cure? Will there be peace?
Most likely, none of these questions will get answered in the upcoming season even though the latest trailer has hinted to some major developments. I lost interest in the series because the writers were so damn emotionally manipulative. I was pulling my hair out over the entire seasons that dragged out only to leave you stranded on a cliffhanger moment that was never fully resolved. I also dislliked the way the writers would put main characters practically in the grave only to resurrect them in a skillful display of editing and exposition. Ehem...Glen!
My LOVE/HATE relationship with this series actually led me to write my own zombie apocalypse novel entitled THE ZOMBIE DOCTOR. It's about a female military field doctor who gets enlisted to help a family in distress. She's rough around the edges like Darrell from The Walking Dead and just wants to be a loner. Yet, in my post-apocalyptic zombie land, you really have to band together in order to survive.
If you can't wait for AMC's the Walking Dead to return in October then get your zombie fix by checking out my novel THE ZOMBIE DOCTOR. It was originally meant to be a stand alone novel, but I enjoyed writing it so much that I'm already working on the sequel. You can find it on Amazon in paperback or ebook or you can just click the image below.
